The Future of This Newsletter

I've decided to make a change.

Welcome to Gratitude Driven, a weekly newsletter where I share practical ideas and insights across personal growth, professional development, and the world of AI and data science.

The Future of This Newsletter

This newsletter is very new — I published my first post in late November 2024, just about three months ago. It’s already grown to nearly 2,000 subscribers, and I couldn’t be more grateful to all of you who have joined me so far.

As I’ve been trying to figure out exactly what I want this newsletter to be, I’ve felt that what I’m publishing has become repetitive with the content on my YouTube channel and Medium blogs.

My original intention was to have more of a focus on Data Science and ML on YouTube, and for the newsletter to share more on the often-overlooked foundations of sustained excellence in challenging fields (and life): gratitude, embracing growth, and the art of finding joy in the journey.

In my mind, this is really what “sets me apart” — if you can say that — from most people in the field, or in the productivity space in general. Yes, I want to excel, and yes, I want to be relentlessly productive. But it’s not for the sake of money, or clout, or even ego (ok, maybe a little bit about ego): It’s because I am so deeply, profoundly grateful for the opportunities in my life, and the fact that I get to push myself.

I have built a life of deep joy that energizes and motivates me to push myself each day, in service of others and my future self.

This is what I want to share with you. I want to share everything from shower thoughts to inspiring content from others to help you tap into a deep well of energy and motivation that can help propel you to be the absolute best version of yourself, both in your professional and personal life.

So, moving forward, I’ll still share interesting technical content when I come across it (books, videos, etc.), and I’ll have a little summary on my recent content in case you missed anything and want to catch up.

But the focus will be thought-provoking ideas, personal updates, and resources to help you thrive in your ML journey and beyond.

If you have feedback or topics you’d like me to explore, feel free to reply—I’d love to hear from you about what would be most helpful for you on your journey.

Also, quick note: I offer a paid version of this newsletter that will never have ads, and offers access to a quarterly AMA with me on Google Meet, so we can chat live about whatever you’re facing in your personal or professional journey. The first call will be in a couple of weeks. Consider upgrading if that sounds valuable to you.

What Inspired Me This Week

I really enjoyed this conversation between Mark Manson and Arthur Brooks. It was a respectful and interesting discussion on the growing appeal of religion to young people, and why so many are actively seeking a more meaningful life.

Arthur Brooks discusses the importance of boredom for finding your purpose, something that really resonated with me. I periodically enjoy going solo camping without any tech — just books and a notebook. I have been profoundly bored on those trips, and also made some important personal breakthroughs. Highly recommended (both solo camping, and the podcast).
